Welcome to the memorial page for

Lori Ann Donner

August 1, 1959 ~ May 20, 2017 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Lori was born in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Bob and Peggy (Christina) Price.  Lori lived her entire life in Spokane.  She attended Comstock Elementary, Sacajawea Jr. High and Lewis & Clark H.S., W.S.U. and Whitworth where she earned her B.S. & M.S./A. in Child & Family Counseling.

Her short life cannot be fully described in such a defined space as this.  Lori is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Curt, step-son, Nick (Jera) Donner & grandchildren Olen and Roslyn.  Also, brother-in-law Bruce (Judy) Donner, her brother Gary (Jennifer) and nephew, Schuyler (Ingrid), neice, Galina (T.J.) and their families.

Lori worked summers for Camp Chevrolet and Standard Drug (her family’s pharmacy).  She also worked summers for Spokane County on a crew maintaining the roads.  One day, while carrying a large, heavy container of paint, Lori miss-stepped approaching the curb and broke her ankle.  The emergency room quickly filled up with onlookers trying to get a glimpse of the pretty young woman covered head to toe in reflective street paint!

After graduation she worked for CRC, Crosswalk, School Dist. 81 and was a case manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

She met her husband Curt attending graduate classes at Whitworth.  Immediately loved and helped raise Curt’s son, Nick, and they were married March 26, 1988 at her parent’s home followed by a Honeymoon in Maui.

While attending Whitworth, she lived for several months with a family in Guatamala.  There, among many other things, she quickly learned how to balance on the log when going to the bathroom while fending off the goats and other animals and not fall off.  Her last day before departing was a memorable one with lots of festivities and a celebration that concluded with a special meal that for the first time included some meat.  However, she soon discovered why she had not seen the family dog around that day!

Lori was a voracious reader, loved snow skiing, music (she had a pitch perfect voice) and playing the piano.  Lora was intelligent with a beautiful sense of humor often times sprinkled with dry wit.

She kept herself up-to-date on current affairs and political issues of the world.

She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and could often times be found outscoring the T.V. contestants.  She loved the older Turner Classic Movies with 12 o’clock High one of her favorites.

She was proud to be able to make donations to local Charities during the Holidays.

She was a terrific cook often times searching for new recipes to try.

As a pilot, she enjoyed flying, and during a vacation attending air shows found herself in Portland, Oregon.  She had her log book and there was an opportunity to ride in a Robinson R22 Helicopter.  Sitting next to the pilot, she got to fly it for a half an hour and got that flight time logged and signed in to her pilot log book by that pilot.

She loved classic cars especially if they were convertibles with manual transmissions.  Loved both her 1988 and 2002 Porsche 911 Cabriolet’s and took various dogs on many rides with her.

Lori loved having dogs and taking them to puppy training classes.  At one of the many puppy classes she attended it was learned that one of the husband’s in the class had a picture on his cell phone of Lori driving the Porsche with her Leonberger, Murphy, in the back wearing her doggles!

She also loved the water, driving fast boats just as much as cocktail cruises on Lake CDA, mooring at Silver Beach Marina and hanging out with friends.

Lori enjoyed the family lake homes at Diamond and Priest Lake and was able to enjoy her own lake front home on the N. end of Lake CDA starting in 2013.  She hosted many New Years Eve get-to-gethers with family and friends at each one of those lake places.

The family wishes to thank all the health care providers at Valley Hospital and Rockwood that helped Lori especially the last 5 days and nights at Hospice House South.  The entire staff at Hospice House South was outstanding and made her last days so much more bearable and she was at peace and pain free and no longer scared.

Lori lost her courageous fight with Cancer after a year and a half.  She maintained her grace, class, dignity and manners throughout and somehow kept her concern with how her husband, Curt was doing.  She is deeply missed and will forever be in our hearts and memories.

In honor of Lori, give loved ones extra hugs, kisses and a flower.  If so moved, please send something to your favorite charity.
