Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Catherine Pohle

September 1, 1919 ~ January 14, 2018 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Mary Catherine Pohle (Novelli), age 98, passed away peacefully on January 14th 2018 at the Royal Park Nursing Home in Spokane, WA.  Mary was born in Spokane, WA on September 1st, 1919 to Suzanna (Diluch) and Leonardo Novelli.  Mary graduated from Rogers High School in 1937.  She played and excelled in basketball, softball and volleyball.  She worked at McKesson Pharmacy at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years before marrying her one true love, Joseph Anthony Pohle from Chewelah, WA in 1953.  They were married for 36 years and had 5 children before he passed away in 1989.  Mary was a devoted and loving Wife and Mother.  She loved her kids whole heartedly and sacrificed everything to assure they had better lives and opportunities.  She was a strong, supportive, selfless and generous woman.

She was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed life surrounded by family.  She took pleasure in knitting and reading, and loved watching the Seattle Mariners and Gonzaga Men's basketball.  Mary was of relatively good health until her death and found immense joy in keeping up with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.  Visits, stories and pictures from her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were the light of her life and she was a light in theirs.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort that she is at peace and in her final resting place beside her beloved husband.  She was a one of kind, the best “mom” to her children, and will be missed dearly by her family.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father Suzanna and Leonardo Novelli, husband, Joseph Pohle, as well as her siblings:  Papayne (Wayne) Rohme, Chester Priano, Tony (Marge) Priano, Adolpho (Eleanor) Novelli, Caroline (Chuck) Cheselka, and Francine Geisbush.

She is survived by her Children:  James (Kerrie) Pohle, Shirley Pohle, Dennis (Donna) Pohle, Mary Jo (Ric) Pohle Victorino, and Richard Pohle.  Grandchildren, Lisa (Leroy Jr.) Pohle Pruitt, Alex (Michelle) Pohle, Lauren Victorino and Allison Pohle.  Great Grandchildren: Leroy III (Tre) and London Pruitt, Zoey and Able Pohle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Royal Park Nursing Home staff for their support and care of Mary these last 3 years.
