Alice Louise Shumacher McGinn was born January 17, 1913 in Wilson Creek, WA to Anton and Isabelle (Trumbley) Schumacher. At age 16, she graduated from Wilson Creek High School, then attended business college in Spokane. She started her working career as a legal secretary.
In 1943, Alice married Francis David McGinn. Mac and Alice had four children; Mary Alice, Colleen, Annette I. Erickson, and Bernard A. McGinn.
A stay at home mom, Alice was a member of St. Aloysius Home and School Association, the Altar Society's St. Gerard's Guild and Gonzaga's Philomethea Club. She was Democratic Precinct Committee Woman, a position she was elected to for fifty consecutive years.
Grandma Alice went camping with the grandchildren, Kristine Annette, Karin Megan and David Martin Erickson, traveling across the country in a minivan. Great-Grandma Alice doted on the great-grandchildren: Erin Louise and Elissa Margaret Toulou; Meghan Claire, Caitlin Belle and Eric John Schuyleman; Konner Brian and Steven Martin Erickson.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Francis D. McGinn, her brother William S. Schumacher, her sister Marion Mensinger, her nephew Patrick J. McGinn, her nephew David J. Druffel, her great-granddaughter Emmalyn Grace Toulou and her nephew Richard B. McGinn Jr.
The Rosary will be at Hennessey's Funeral Home Friday, January 18th at 6:00p.m., and the Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius, January 19th at 10:00a.m.
