Kay Hoisington passed away Wednesday, December 12 at her son’s home in Spokane, WA. She was 96.
Kay was born in Nordegg, Alberta, June 19, 1922 to Italian immigrants Gaetano and Saletta Caria. Just six months later the family relocated to the Spokane area, where Kay would spend the rest of her life. She graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1941 and married Owen Hoisington in 1945 upon his return from service in the Second World War. Together they would go on to have five sons, one of whom was stillborn.
Kay is survived by sons Dale (Mera) Hoisington, David (Connie) Hoisington, Dean (Inez) Hoisington, and Duane (Teresa) Hoisington. She is also survived by brother Sylvester (Betty) Caria and sister Georgia Harder, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews too numerous to name.
She is preceded in death by her parents; by Owen, her husband of 73 years; and siblings John Caria, (Mary), Joe Juliano (2), Mary Juliano, and Anna Marie Caria.
Kay left a legacy of love, care, and devotion to her large circle of family and friends. A rosary will be held in her honor at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division, Monday, Dec. 17 at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church 2120 E. First Ave. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11:00AM. Interment Fairmount Memorial Park with a reception to follow thereafter.
A long, good life well lived. She will be missed by many.
