Tribute

Dale was born to Herman and Dora Anderson on October 13, 1925 in Spokane.  He passed away peacefully on March 12, 2018.  Dale was a lifetime resident of the Spokane area.  He attended Foothills, Loon Lake, and St. Patrick grade schools and Gonzaga Prep High School, graduating in 1943.  He then joined the US Navy and reported to Farragut Naval Training Station where he qualified for submarine duty.  He worked as a submarine motor machinist in ports such as New London, CT and later, he was a submarine crew member on missions in the South Pacific.  He was discharged in 1947.  Dale married Elizabeth “Betty” Cowell in 1951 and they had 4 children.  Betty passed away in 1986.  After the service, Dale joined Harms Chevrolet that later became Camp Chevrolet.  He started his career as a mechanic but after a few years found his true calling as a car salesman.  In 1967 Dale left Camp Chevrolet and opened his own car lot called Low Cost Cars that he operated for many years.  He loved the car business and taking care of his customers.  Dale retired at age 62 and enjoyed near perfect health for most of his retirement years.  Dale was a busy man who loved working on projects for himself and others and spending time with family and his many friends.  He was frequently on a dance floor somewhere and he was always buying or selling something, usually cars or real estate.  During retirement he enjoyed Yuma in the winters and Deer Lake in the summers.  He was a long time member of the Eagles, VFW, and Assumption Catholic Church.  Dale was preceded in death by his siblings Bud Anderson, Edith Mohr, Leone Johnson and his son Pete Anderson.  He is survived by his children Paul (Christine) Anderson, Kay Anderson (Barb), Laurie (Joe) Luce, daughter-in-law Karen Anderson and 5 grandchildren: Monica, Benjamin, Heather, Hannah, and Ruth as well as his sister Grace Nutter, numerous nieces and nephews and their offspring, and dear friend Cheryl Scheideman.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18th at 3 PM with a rosary following at 4PM at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church, 3624 W Indian Trail Rd, Monday, March 19th at 11 AM with a reception following at the church.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:30PM.
