Darlene Marie Hayes

Darlene Marie Crosby Hayes, 81, passed September 13, 2021, in her sleep. Her heart stopped and our hearts were broken. We rejoice that her pain, suffering and isolation have ended in the loving arms of our heavenly Father.

Darlene was born July 7, 1940, in Spokane, Washington to Richard and Lois (McCanna) Crosby. She was raised with 6 brothers and sisters: Ronald Crosby, Judith Crosby, Janet (Ron) Gregerson, Debbie (Mike) Reynolds, Raymond Crosby and Lonna (Al) Christiansen. May the memories each hold close of their elder sister give peace.

Darlene has 4 children: Rick (Lori) Sorensen, Marcy (Geoff) Matsumoto, Duane (Rachelle) Sorensen and Michael (Monika) Hawkinson. We grieve. We rejoice. We are thankful that our heavenly Father was merciful. We will meet again Mama. Her 8 grandchildren are Chad, Haley, Colton, Kylie, Cameron, Gabriel, Ethan & Michael. She loves you all from here to heaven.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Richard G. Hayes. A beautiful story of unconditional love, respect and honor. Your celebration in heaven brings warmth to our weary hearts.

Darlene had a passion for working with and for mentally, emotionally and physically impaired individuals. The journey began at Prevocational Training Center to Meals on Wheels and ended as a Self-Operating Beautician. The lives she impacted are without number. She was the leading force behind creating and delivering Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner to all Meals on Wheels clients throughout the greater Spokane area for years.

Darlene was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She prayed intentionally, danced through her life daily and graced herself with jewelry, fashion and travel.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, 1104 W. Heroy, on Saturday, October 2nd. Rosary starts at 12:30 pm and Mass and reception will follow.
