Our loving mother Esther May Miller, age 88, of Spokane, WA passed away May 18, 2023 at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital. She was born in Streator, IL on May 19, 1934 and grew up in Sinclair, WY. Esther graduated from Rawlins High School in 1952 and attended Denver University before working at Rawlins Federal Savings and Loan and later as a flight attendant for United Airlines. She lived in San Francisco when she met our dad Robert E. Miller, Jr. (Bob) of Boyds, Washington. They were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rawlins and together raised four children in Northern California and Eastern Washington state. Esther was hard working, kind, and loved by many friends and family. She worked in Spokane at Old National Bank, Sears and Jones Pharmacy until she became the full time caretaker of her daughter, Elizabeth. She was passionate about her family and friends, her home and yard, learning, music, and keeping up with local news. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Esther is survived by her children Mary Kay, Robert Stephen (Cathy) and Carol Lynn (James DiNatale) Miller; her sisters Marian Dale and Carol Butler; many nieces and nephews, and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Miller Jr., daughter Elizabeth Ann Miller, parents Stephen C. and Emily V. Kmetz, sister Virginia E. Waeckerlin and brother Ralph E. Kmetz.
A viewing will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Hennessey Funeral Home & Crematory, 2203 N Division St, Spokane, Washington. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 3327 S Perry St, Spokane, Washington. Interment will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery 7200 N Wall St, Spokane, Washington.
