Ella went to Kauai High School, attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado for 2 years, then transferred to the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon where she graduated in 1960.
In 1960, Ella met Dan Niedermeyer at a wedding reception at the University of Portland one week before she would graduate from there. On May 9, 1964 they were married. It was the start of a wonderful 53 year marriage together.
After graduating, Ella enjoyed teaching history and geography at Forest Grove High School in Oregon for 5 years.
In 1965, Ella transitioned away from teaching to raise a family of 3 children: Danny, Vicki, and Teddy. The next 20 years were extremely busy and filled with children’s activities and extensive volunteering, especially at St. Thomas More and Jesuit High School. She loved this period of time where family was always the focus.
In 1985, Ella went to work in the business office for Meier & Frank Department Store, which was later bought by Macy’s. She took great pride in her work and loved working there. She retired in 2010 after nearly 25 years. In retirement, Ella enjoyed reading, traveling, and celebrating and spending time with family, which included her tremendous love of the 7 grandchildren.
After loving and calling Portland home for many decades, Ella moved to Spokane in 2019 where she could be closer to immediate family.
Ella is survived by her son Danny (Karen), daughter Victoria White (Tim), son Teddy (Colleen), and seven grandchildren: Megan, Daniel, Katie, Molly, Michael, Joe and Ella. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Delos Santos.
