Leonard Earl Mortlock

ENTERED INTO THE LOVING ARMS OF HIS LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, on October 15, 2021.  He was born in Spokane, WA, on November 14, 1948, to Earl and Brownie Mortlock.  Len graduated from LACROSSE HIGH SCHOOL in 1967 and received a Bachelor of Arts in History from WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY in 1971 and later earned a Master's in Teaching P.E. in 1981.  He enlisted in the AIR NATIONAL GUARD in 1969 and served until 1973.  He was married to Janis Thew on August 4, 1973, in Spokane, WA.  Together they raised three children and were married 33 years until Jan went to be with Jesus.  On March 5, 2016, he married Susan Heeter, and together they became a family of 42, including children, spouses, and grandchildren.  Len worked as a teacher at Northwest Christian and in the 9-Mile Falls School district and later became a principal.  He served on the elder board for many years at Indian Trail Church, and more recently, was a beloved Sunday School Teacher.  Len had a passion for teaching, coaching, reading, mentoring, and was a living example of what it looks like to "run the race" for Christ.  He lived out his life verse of Proverbs 3:5-6.  WE WILL MISS his faithful prayers for all of his family, his quirks, his advice, his smile, and his birthday poems.  Len LEAVES BEHIND his wife Susan; stepchildren Tim Heeter, Kelly (Steve) Warren, Matt (Michelle) Heeter, Jeff (Jenny) Heeter, Amy (Steve) Mack; his children Treasure (Chris) McLaughlin, Caleb (Sarah) Mortlock, Taylor (Sarah) Mortlock; mothers-in-law Janice Thew and Nita Wiggins; siblings Judy Ortner, Dave (Nancy) Mortlock, Gary (Rhonda) Mortlock, Rick (Maureen) Mortlock, Pete (Donna) Mortlock, Becky (Russ) Manning, Tim Mortlock, Philip Mortlock; brothers-in-law Mike (Judy) Thew, Jerry (Janet) Thew, Dan (Diana) Thew, Scott Wiggins, Mark Wiggins; and 24 grandchildren.  Len was PRECEDED IN DEATH BY his parents, Earl and Brownie Mortlock; wife Janis Mortlock; father-in-law Rod Thew; brother Dan Mortlock; and brother-in-law John Ortner.  IN LIEU OF FLOWERS the family requests money be sent to Horizon Hospice, 608 E Holland Ave, Spokane, WA 99218, or Indian Trail Church, 9010 N Indian Trail Rd, Spokane, WA 99208.  MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 20th, 2 PM at Indian Trail Church, 9010 N.
