Tribute

Norma Elaine Stejer (King) was born January 4,1927 to Carl Chester King and Anna Scott King in Pullman, Washington and died on June 24th, 2022 in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eleanor Beryl Kinzer, brother Stanley Scott King, step-son, Richard John Stejer, and her husband, Richard “Dick” Alexander Stejer. She is survived by Sharon Anna Reed (Don Kellman), Shelley Emma McDowell (Mick), Sandra
Elaine Olgard (Bruce), Carl “Cass” Albert Stejer (Tammy Erickson); grandchildren Kathleen Proud (Ryan Terheggen), Natalie Kraft (Matt), Emma Olgard (Carlos Rufin), Alexis Gales (Fletcher), Sara Hatlen (Tim), Stanley Reed (Courtney), Nicholas Stejer (Margarita Zeitlin), Stu Stejer, and several great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Washington State College (WSU) with her Bachelor’s degree in General Studies and M.S. in Psychology, she lived in Los Angeles selling life insurance before moving to
Spokane and settling down with Dick and raising their four children. She loved Spokane and was active in the community including Expo ’74, the Spokane Symphony, Friends of the Davenport, and was one of the founding members of the Spokane Dixieland Jazz Festival. Winning a hand at bridge at The Spokane Club and playing a tune on her beloved saxophone brought her much joy; but time with her children and grandchildren were paramount, especially at their Priest Lake cabin.

A celebration of life will be held at The Spokane Club (1002 W. Riverside) on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022 at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, Norma would like donations made to the Spokane Symphony,
Hospice of Spokane, or a charity of your choice.
