Owen K Gibson

Owen Kimball Gibson: unique, simple, individual.

Born in Spokane, WA at Holy Family Hospital on July 17th, 2010, to loving parents, Ben and Maren and big sister, Emma. At birth issues presented that would be prove to be life changing.  Genetic testing concludes there was a chromosome deletion which was like no other in the world. After 52 days in the NICU, Owen was able to come home. He would become a big brother in 2011 with the birth of his little sister Ella.  Owen would go on to work with therapist at the Joya School (Guild School in 2010), firefighters when they came to assist his parents with necessary intervention. Owen became a student with the Mead School District home program. The therapist and teachers who came to his home enjoyed the time they had with Owen. He attended church services with his family at the Brentwood Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Owen traveled with his family to Minnesota, California, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Owen was unique and was a light to those who met him.

He loved toys that made noises and lit up, he loved being with his family and his dog Hudson. Owen did not enjoy blood draws, gas in his tummy and the wind in his face. We will never forget all the family, friends, therapist, teachers, firefighters, nurses, and doctors who showed him love and compassion.

Owen passed away, unexpectedly, at home, Monday, July 12th, 2021, just days before his 11th birthday.  He will continue to impact and change our lives with his memory. Today, we celebrate his life!  

We love him so much; we are thankful for the time we had together, and we know that Owen is now at peace.
