Tribute

 

 

Richard Albert Materne born January 4, 1940, at Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, Washington by Albert Henry and Dorothy Louise (Rossman) Materne.  He passed May 19, 2023 after fighting a long battle with A-Typical Parkinson’s disease and bladder cancer.  Dick leaves behind his wife Cheryl of 49 years, his son Todd McInnis; daughter Suzette (Alfonso) Roney; and son Brock Materne. His eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his sisters Lynn Scherza; and Kay Culnane and best friend Jim Christie.


After graduating from North Central High School in 1958 then the army from August 5, 1963 to July 31, 1969, then for 25 years he was General manager for Cunningham Sand & Gravel and 17 years Construction Manager for Mountain Crest Enterprises retiring October of 2006.


He loved outdoors and found pleasure in hunting, fishing, trapshooting, baseball, snowmobiling; snowshoe softball, boating,  and bowling.  He was a math wizard; loved to garden and had an immaculate yard.  For 20 years he and his wife traveled back and forth to Arizona for the winter months.  He had his Sacheen Lake and baseball buddies; his trapshooting buddies and his Arizona buddies.  He was well loved because he was so dependable and solid as a rock.
