Willie Mae Austin, age 72, of Spokane, Washington passed away March 22, 2021. She was Born in Limestone, Texas on February 10, 1949. She was married to Marion Austin on August 12, 1983 at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Together they enjoyed 38 years of marriage, raised 3 children and helped raise 1 grandchild. Willie served in the US Air Force Reserves and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. She was a member of the Christian Faith and had passion for gardening, sewing, traveling and outdoor recreation. She was a strong-willed woman who believed in helping people. Family time was sacred to her and she wanted to be present in the lives of those she cared about. She will always be remembered, loved, and cherished.
She was survived by her husband, Marion Austin of Spokane, Washington, her son, Gerald “Barry” (Cecilia) London of Cheney, Washington, her daughter, Neecole (Mel) Serrano of Medical Lake, Washington, and granddaughter, Shayla Rodgers of Spokane, Washington, her siblings, Bobby Earl (Cassandra) Scott of Lubbock, Texas, Garland Lynn Scott, of Dallas, Texas, Jimmy Lee (Sharon) Scott of Denton, Texas, Shirley Scott of Dallas, Texas, and Mary Loise Toliver, of Dallas, Texas. Willie also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild to cherish her loving memory. She was preceded in death by: her stepson, Marion D Austin, her parents Willie and Edna Scott, her sister Willie Pearl Thurman and her brother, Billy Joe Scott. In lieu of memorial contributions, an offer of service to another person in need, in Willie’s name, would be appreciated by her family.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division St, Spokane Washington. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Hennessey Funeral Home. Committal services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, Washington.
