Donald Wayne Dotson

January 16, 1941 ~ January 14, 2018 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Donald Wayne Dotson was born January 16, 1941 in Kenmare, North Dakota; he passed away peacefully on January 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Don enjoyed his high school years at Central Valley High School, and then joined the Navy in 1957.  In 1961, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned home to Spokane, WA.  There he courted and married the love of his life, Patricia A. Boehm on June 27, 1964 and, with her, raised their two children Patrick and Tony.  Don enjoyed life; one of his greatest passions was car racing.  He raced many different cars from super stock, foreign stocks, dune buggies and sprint coupes from 1962 until 1981. In 1973 he won the “championship” with his foreign stock car.  Don worked at Discount Muffler from 1964 to 1981.  In 1981 he sold his last racecar, the sprint coupe to buy and be a co-owner of the Muffler Mart. Don enjoyed many years at the Muffler Mart, working on cars and chatting with his customers until he decided to hang his last pipe and retire in 2015. Don was highly respected by his peers in the community and within the automotive industry.  In his later years he enjoyed boating, NASCAR, The World of Outlaws and online racing. Don was so excited to spend his retirement years with the love of his life, Patricia, traveling in their motor home and always stopping on covered bridges to share a kiss.  He also enjoyed spending countless hours in his yard and garden and with their treasured pups, Lucy and Toby.  Don is survived by his wife Patricia of 53 years; their sons Patrick (Patty) and Tony (Maria); his grandkids Lindsey Dotson and Ryan Quimby; his father Donald Shervey, Vancouver WA; half-brothers Jim Dotson, Spokane, WA, Randy Shervey and Gary Shervey, Portland, OR; half-sisters Virginia (Gerry) Schulli, Grand Folks, BC, Linda and Rhonda Portland, OR and Dawn (Greg) Yates Denver, CO.  He was preceded in death, by his mother Hazel Hale and half-sister Sandy Hale.
